Go Green and End Fossil Fuels
Renewable Energy is the Solution
“The carbon cycle affects the fabric of life. ”
A clean energy revolution is taking place across America. Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Switching to renewable energy from fossil fuels will dramatically reduce the about of CO2 emissions being trapped by our atmosphere. NOAA reported that carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere reached an all time high in May 2019 shattering recorded levels in 61 years of observation. Over 2/3 of climate scientists agree, burning of oil, gas and fossil fuels – is to blame for rising global temperatures. Carbon dioxide being trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere is so significant and dangerous because CO2 is the most important gas for controlling Earth’s temperature. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution around 150 years ago, Earth’s temperatures has increased at an alarming rate, raising oceanic water levels in its wake. Not only do fossil fuels heat the earth, they produce unhealthy by-products like air pollution, which adversely affects your lung health. According to scientists, the atmosphere has not held this much carbon for at least 420,000 years. People are waking up, we are realizing that we are in the beginning of a mass extinction. We need to act now. The answer lies all around us, by using the natural elements mother nature has intended us to use for decades we can significantly reduce the about of CO2 emissions being trapped by our atmosphere. Switching to renewable energy has never been so easy. It is the solution that will help save our special from global extinction.
Cost and Productivity
Around 75% of coal production is more expensive than solar or wind today. Coal plants have suffered due to rising maintenance costs, including requirements to install pollution controls. Renewables account for 17% of US electricity generation, with coal’s share declining. Wind energy technology in particular has improved significantly in recent years, resulting in turbines that are much larger and produce more energy at less cost. For example, wind is the lowest-priced energy sources available today, costing between two and six cents per kilowatt an hour. Wind turbine technician is one of the fastest-growing American jobs of the decade. According to the Wind Vision Report, wind has the potential to support more than 600,000 jobs and in 2016 it employed more than 100,000 workers. The cost of producing one megawatt-hour of electricity — a standard way to measure electricity production — is now around $50 for solar power. The cost of producing one megawatt-hour of electricity from coal is $102 — more than double the cost of solar.
